As long as you are aware of the costs of using an electric space heater and you educate yourself on the safety issues, then it might work for you. Just do the research on what is best for your home and the space you intend to heat. Also, keep in mind that an electric space heater can also be efficient when used with your central unit. As long as the central unit thermostat is turned down to a sensible level, the space heater will do the rest.
