Space heaters are convenient because most of them are portable and easy to use. There are many different types and sizes of space heater. Some are energy efficient and others are eco friendly. The most common type of space heater is electric. However, there are also oil heaters as well as natural gas heaters. Although space heaters are common, they do not replace central heating. In fact, they are often used along with central heating in the home or business, which is how it is most energy efficient.

These days the technology has improved making space heater more cost-effective, functional and most important safer. Some heaters are made with timers and thermostats so when the room reaches a fair amount of heat it will then shut itself off. Space heaters are measured by the size of the room that needs heating so when purchasing a space heater, you will not get one that over or under heats the room. The important thing to consider when purchasing a space heater is the quality and size required to heat the room.

Some space heaters are the only source of heat in a home in which case will require a large size or several small ones depending on the rooms that will be occupied. This could be an energy saver or it could then cost you. Depending on the type of heater you purchase and the cost of electricity or gas, which ever you prefer, in your area. In some areas, winter storms can cut out electricity therefore making it extremely difficult to heat your home. In which case, you might benefit on using either a gas or an oil space heater.

My personal experience with space heaters, I find it best to use them when my budget is a little tight. I use them only in the rooms that are in use and it does not cost too much because they are smaller than central heating. Central heating requires a big unit to heat a home and depending on the size of the home, it may not be necessary to have such a large, consuming unit. If the home is extremely large and there is a significant amount of rooms or space not occupied, then space heaters just might work for you.

The important thing to remember when purchasing a space heater is the size of space you need to heat and the cost. The type of heater you prefer is also important. For instance, if the electric space heater does not fit your budget or whatever the reason, keep in mind there are gas, propane, and oil heaters as well. The gas or oil heaters might fit better in a tighter budget. There are many fancy, stylish, and of course more expensive types of space heaters but that does not matter, what matters is that you find the space heater that will heat the amount of space you need without costing you an arm and a leg.
